Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide information regarding a new enhancement to ExaBR utility bundled with the Exalogic Lifecycle Toolkit version 14.2.25 release.

ExaBR version 1.2.14 now has the ability to add a tag or description when backing up Exalogic components.

Scope

The scope and application of this feature will allow Exalogic Admins to more easily track when/why a backup was taken using ExaBR.

Prior to Exalogic Lifecycle Toolkit version 14.2.25 release this was not possible, an admin would have to create his/her own spreadsheet and document the names of the backups taken and why there were taken.

Usage Example

When performing multiple Exalogic Control Backups during an Exalogic PSU ( Patch Set Update ) such as Oct 2020 PSU where it is necessary to take backups of the Control Stack at several intervals during the procedure.

With this new feature added to ExaBR 1.2.14 as part of the ELLC toolkit version 14.2.25, it is now possible to label each of these control stack backups with a description about the backup.

Sample descriptions

"after OVMM DB rebuild procedure, SR 3-XXXXXXXXXX"

"before section D Control Stack From OL5 To OL6 Migration"

"after section D Control Stack From OL5 To OL6 Migration"

"after section E Control Stack Migration"

"troubleshooting SR 3-XXXXXXXXXX"
