OHS 12.2.1.4.0 EM Plugin Does Not Honor Variables In Admin.conf (Doc ID 2793971.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 02, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle HTTP Server - Version 12.2.1.4.0 to 12.2.1.4.0 [Release 12c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The httpd.conf makes use of the Apache HTTPD 2.4 "Define" directive to set a number of variables, which are subsequently referred to from within httpd.conf, and from all its included additional config files (ssl.conf,vhosts.cnf, etc.).

This works fine, except for admin.conf -- using (e.g.) a port variabledefinition in the latter causes a series of exceptions (NullPointerException, MalformedURLException, NumberFormatException), when starting the OHS instance from the EM GUI (oracle.ohs.plugin.nodemanager.OhsProcessManagementPlugin).  The OHS instance starts up fine, but the communication between the EM GUI and the instance is broken (no status information, no performance metrics).

At runtime, the OHS EM plugin / Nodemanager mechanism cannot cope with variable settings (addresses, ports, etc) in admin.conf
