Open a Specific Page URL for Authenticated Users in WebCenter Portal Fails with "Internal Error" when set to a Full URL (Doc ID 2822418.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 18, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 12.2.1.3.0 to 12.2.1.4.0
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

Setting a default start page for Authenticated Users to a full URL doesn't work.
Accessing the Default Start Page for Authenticated Users fails with the following error when the Default Start Page is set to a full URL:

ERROR

Internal Error (WCS#YYYY.MM.DD.HH.MI.SS)

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Expected to be able to set the Default Start Page for Authenticated Users to a full URL according to the following documentation:

The documentation states:

Typically this is an internal page. You can enter a full or relative page URL as shown in these examples:

     http://mywebcenter.com:8888/webcenter/portal/page/landingpage

     http://mywebcenter.com:8888/webcenter/portal/portalname/page/landingpage

     /portals/portalname/page/landingpage

If you specify an external page, make sure that you specify the full URL.

However, it seems the "Open a Specific Page URL" option is expecting a partial URL and it breaks when providing a full URL.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

  1. Create a private portal.

  2. Set the default Page URL for authenticated users to the full URL to the page in the private portal.
    • Go to Administration -> General.

    • Scroll down to the "Default Portal" section.

    • Set the default portal page for authenticated users to the full URL to the page in the private portal.
      e.g.:

      Authenticated Users
Open a Specific Page URL: http://<HOST>:<PORT>/webcenter/portal/Portal1/page1

    • Click Save.

  3. Try accessing WebCenter Portal URL as authenticated user.
    e.g.:

    http://<HOST>:<PORT>/webcenter

    This error occurs after login:

    Internal Error (WCS#YYYY.MM.DD.HH.MI.SS)
