Troubleshooting the "Connection reset" error can be a challenge, because there are a variety of potential causes. The following list enumerates areas to check that have been known to cause this problem.  The list will be updated and revised as new findings come to light.  Note that the text of the error may appear as either "Connection reset" or "Connection reset by peer".
