What is the recommended JDBC Thin Connect String For PDB (Doc ID 2835372.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2022

Applies to:

JDBC - Version 19.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When upgrading the database from a non-PDB configuration to a PDB ( Pluggable Database) what is the recommended JDBC connection  string format?

For example if you are upgrading the database from 12c to 19c with a PDB configuration.

Assuming you have been using the following formats previously:
jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port/servicename
or
jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:instance_name

What is recommended for accessing a PDB? What versions of JDBC drivers can be used with a 19c PDB?
