Sql Developer Freezes with Normal Use (Doc ID 2861844.1)

Symptoms

Sql Developer freezes consistently with normal use and with such excess that the product cannot be used.

Once the freeze occurs the only way to exit is to kill the session.

The Jstack will have output similar to the following:

at sun.awt.Win32GraphicsDevice.getMaxConfigsImpl(Native Method)
at sun.awt.Win32GraphicsDevice.getMaxConfigs(Win32GraphicsDevice.java:213)
at sun.awt.Win32GraphicsDevice.getConfigurations(Win32GraphicsDevice.java:173)
at javax.swing.ToolTipManager.getDrawingGC(ToolTipManager.java:229)
at javax.swing.ToolTipManager.showTipWindow(ToolTipManager.java:265)
