ODI Generating Staging Table Column Names with Underscores and Number Causing "ORA-00911: invalid character" (Doc ID 2870890.1)

Symptoms

While executing a mapping in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) to load data from Business Intelligence Cloud Connector (BICC), Flat file, or Oracle using LKM BICC to ADW External, LKM File to Oracle,  or LKM Oracle to Oracle knowledge modules, the following error occurs:

Observe the staging columns named as _1,_2,_3 etc as showing in the below image. Column names are a number prefixed with an underscore.
