System CPU Load May Go High When Editing url-mapping.xml While ORDS Is Running On a Heavy Loaded System (Doc ID 2874525.1)

Last updated on JUNE 02, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle REST Data Services - Version 18.4 to 21.4.3
Generic Linux

Symptoms

While ORDS is running, if the url-mapping.xml file is edited and saved (for example using vi text editor), just after saving the file,
the CPU usage on ORDS server goes high (90% or more), memory usage goes high (90% or more), while APEX pages get unresponsive.

The issue was reported on a configuration with Linux OS, having a large number of Databases, and a large number of entries in url-mapping.xml file.

In this case, the system was recovered by restarting ORDS.

The issue does not occur if the system is not processing any requests or the requests are coming after 15-20 minutes post file saving.

Changes

Upgrade ORDS from versions 18.1.1.95.1251, 18.3.0.267, 19.1.0.81, 19.1.2.150 to version 21.4.2
