Git Versioning Fails with Error "ODI-12421: Failed to add [[<NAME>xml]] files to index in Git repository." on Windows (Doc ID 2882749.1)

Symptoms

Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.2.1.4.x has been configured with Git Version Control System (VCS), and it is generally working. Users are on Windows platform.

When attempting to add a mapping or package to Git and create a version, in some cases an error is observed and the "Add to VCS" command fails:

To reproduce:

  1. Create an ODI design object, i.e. a mapping or a package
  2. In Designer, expand the project and folder to locate the object
  3. Right-click and select "Version -> Add to VCS..."
  4. Observe the error for some objects
