Oracle Identity Governance (OIG) 12c: How to Add Custom Validator to Custom UDF Attribute (Doc ID 2896137.1)

Goal

Sections 17.7.7.4.2 "Implementing Custom Field Validation Using Managed Beans" and 17.7.7.4.3 "Setting the Validator Property" explain how to manually add a validator to an existing attribute but not to a new UDF attribute.

The manual states that Validators cannot be set in the Web Composer but the Web Composer in 12c has a field for setting Validators. Attempting to do so on a new UDF string attribute called NewPhoneNumber results in the following ADF error:
