Shutdown Hook In New UCP Driver Prematurely Closes The Connection (Doc ID 2900904.1)

Last updated on MAY 15, 2023

Applies to:

Universal Connection Pool - Version 21.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A custom shutdown hook is not running and in fact is getting overriden by something in the 21c UCP driver. As a result connections are closed prematurely and the custom hook is never fired.

Because of this, the custom application fails to shutdown gracefully: during shutdown, interaction with the database may be required, but it is not possible, because the UCP driver closes all connections independently in parallel thread.
