Coherence Cluster Errors with Clustered IPM Servers and Clustered UCM Servers (Doc ID 2903988.1)

Last updated on APRIL 18, 2024

Oracle WebCenter Content: Imaging - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This article resolves the two errors described below. The following System Architecture allows these problems to happen.
Three separate VM's with one managed server each for UCM, IPM, SOA, and Capture.

If the Managed Servers were on 4 separate VM's, the first problem couldn't happen, but the second could.

Error Type 1:

Clustered IPM Server receives Panic messages from UCM Cluster Server on startup.

UCM_server1.out:
1228 instances of:
(thread=Cluster, member=1): An existence of a cluster island with senior Member(Id=1, Timestamp=<timestamp>, Address=<IP Address:Port>, MachineId=nnnnn, Location=machine:<machine_name>,process:mmmmm,member:UCM_serverN, Role=<ucm_cluster_name>) containing 2 nodes have been detected. Since this Member(Id=1, Timestamp=<timestamp>, Address=<IP Address:Port>, MachineId=lllll, Location=machine:<ucm_machine_name,process:iiiii,member:UCM_serverM, Role=<ucm_cluster_name>) is the senior of a larger cluster island, the panic protocol is being activated to stop the other island's senior and all junior nodes that belong to it.>

ERROR
-----------------------
#### <IPM_server1> [partition-name: DOMAIN] > (thread=Cluster, member=2): Received panic from senior Member(Id=1, Timestamp=<timestamp>, Address=<IP Address:Port>, MachineId=nnnnn,, Location=machine:<machine_name>,process:jjjj,member:UCM_serverM, Role=<ucm_cluster_name>) caused by Member(Id=1, Timestamp=<timestamp>, Address=<IP Address:Port>, MachineId=nnnnn, Location=machine:<machine_name,process:kkkkk,member:UCM_serverK, Role=<ucm_cluster_name)>

Due to this issue, users cannot run or start up IPM servers.

Error Type 2:

All IPM servers in the cluster report they're the only member in the cluster with set size = 1.

IPM1 says:
Loaded cache configuration from "file:/u01/app/oracle/admin/domains/wccipmdomain/config/coherence/cache-config/AXFCacheConfig-0/AXFCacheConfig-0-cache-config.xml">
Created cache factory com.tangosol.net.ExtensibleConfigurableCacheFactory>
Service coherence:DistributedCache joined the cluster with senior service member 1>
Service coherence:DistributedCache: sending PartitionConfig ConfigSync to all>

This member has become the distribution coordinator for MemberSet(Size=1 Member(Id=1, Timestamp=<timestamp>, Address=<IP Address:Port>, MachineId=iiiii, Location=machine:<machine_name,process:iiiii,member:IPM_server1, Role=<ipm_cluster_name)>)
 )>

IPM2 and IPM3 say the same thing, with only the IP addresses, etc differing.

Changes

New implementation with migration from on-premises to OCI
