Coherence Partition Lost During The Snapshot Restore Process (Doc ID 2926528.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 19, 2025

Applies to:

Oracle Coherence - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

After losing one of the four physical machines, the backups were enabled and no data was lost. But after performing a Coherence Restart (one group), during the snapshot restore process, PARTITION LOST events were through and data were lost.

Sequence of events performed:

1. Stopping related Hotcache extracts
2. Taking Snapshots of the Group
3. Killing all nodes of Group
4. Starting all nodes of Group
5. Restoring snapshots <-- At this point lost data even though before the restart no data loss was observed
6. Starting related Hotcache extracts

Concerning the sequence of actions during snapshot recovery, does the redistribution of data and/or backups occurs during snapshot recovery, or after the whole process takes place?
