OPMN Fails to Start OID Components Because of a Dependency Check (Doc ID 294491.1)

Last updated on MARCH 11, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Middleware - Version 9.0.4.0.0 to 10.1.2.3.0 [Release AS10g to AS10gR2]
z*OBSOLETE: Microsoft Windows
Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise Edition - Version: 9.0.4.0.0 to 10.1.2.3.0
Microsoft Windows

Symptoms

OID and OC4J_SECURITY components fail to start on the infrastructure instance using "opmnctl startall" with the following error:

opmn\bin> opmnctl startall
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...

opmn id=<host>:<port>
2 of 3 processes started.
ias-instance id=xxxxx
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ias-component/process-type/process-set:
OC4J/OC4J_SECURITY/default_island
Error
--> Process (pid=<pid>)
failed to start a managed process because a dependency check failed
oid dependency failed ...

"opmnctl startproc process-type=OID" works but only starts oidmon and NOT oidldap processes.

Then to workaround issue, use command outside opmn.

$ oidctl server=oidldapd instance=1 start

Now, the following command is successful.

$ opmnctl startproc process-type=OC4J_SECURITY

Access to url http://hostname.domainname:7777/pls/orasso fails with the following error:

Service Temporarily Unavailable

Testing a Database Access Descriptor(DAD) fails with the same error messages and the following errors appears in Apache error log :

[Wed Dec 22 12:41:41 2004] [notice] [client <ip-address>] [ecid:<ecid>] mod_plsql: ORA-3113: end-of-file on communication channel
[Wed Dec 22 12:41:41 2004] [error] [client <ip-address>] [ecid:<ecid>] mod_plsql: /pls/test/xxxx.ctest HTTP-503 ORA-3113

Set SQLNET tracing and the following error is reported in sqlnet.log:

TNS-12631: Username retrieval failed
