How To Integrate The MS Word Spell Checker With Forms Using WebUtil (Doc ID 295449.1)

Goal

Note: The sample program/code in this article is provided for educational purposes only and is NOT supported by Oracle Support Services.  It has been tested internally and works as documented.  Oracle can not guarantee that it will work in all possible configurations, so be sure to test it thoroughly in your test environment before deploying it.

 

This document will provide an example of how the Microsoft Office Spell Checker can be integrated into a Forms web application. This example is only one of numerous possibilities (e.g. another is <Note 115895.1> Adding Spell Check functionality for Web Forms). This is only an example of what can be done. By presenting this example, Oracle is not necessarily indicating that it will support/certify this methodology. This sample code is provided as an educational example, use it at your own risk.

Requirements: 

Forms 10g or newer
Webutil and Jacob versions compatible with the Forms version used.
Certified MS Windows Client (see Client Certification in the 11g or 11gR2 Oracle Forms and Reports Certification Matrix or the Client Statement of Direction for
Forms 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) on OTN ).
The following sample code was tested with Forms 10g Release 2 and Microsoft Word 2000 or Word 2002.
