What is Best Practice on When to Use a Coherence Cluster? (Doc ID 2955994.1)

Goal

We currently have a WebLogic 12.2.1.4 server domain. We have a regular cluster and no coherence cluster. The applications deployed are not designed to use coherence. We are upgrading to WebLogic 14.1.1.0. What is best practice on when to use a coherence cluster? If the application is not developed to use coherence, is a coherence cluster recommended?
