[Java] JRockit: Multiple Full GCs with Reason: Artificial GC: Cleaning up Finished Threads (Doc ID 2957813.1)

Symptoms

Multiple full garbage collections (GCs) occur even though there is plenty of Java heap Old Generation space available.

After enabling the verbose memdbg logging module1 with the command line option -Xverbose:memdbg, the following DEBUG message is printed at the start of the old collection (OC) and shows the following reason for the GC event2:
