Documents seem to be processing very slowly when using Metadata search (Doc ID 2978180.1)

Recently switched from Oracle Text Search to Metadata Only Search.

Over 500,000 documents are still in the Work In Progress queue, in a Done status.

The indexer tracing shows that the documents are slowly processing, but seem to be getting caught into retries by the Webcenter Content LinkManager component (which scrapes documents for URLs in the documents).

How can these documents be made searchable, and improve the performance ?
