Symptoms

Attempting to view expired documents fails with the following error:

ERROR

Error
System failure occurred. Contact your site administrator. 

Users are able to download the file, but not view.


STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Connect to WebCenter Portal.
     
  2. Navigate to a Portal with the documents service enabled.
     
  3. Upload a document to the portal.
     
  4. Update the document expiration date so the document expires.
     
  5. Add the documents task flow to a page in the portal and set the document task flow to show the "Expired Content" folder.
     
  6. Wait for the document to expire.
     
  7. View the page with the document task flow set to the "Expired Content" folder.
     
  8. The expired document should show now in this folder.

  9. Hover the mouse over the expired document.
    This error will be displayed:
     
    Error:
    System failure occurred. Contact your site administrator. 
     
  10. Connect to the Content Server User Interface.
     
    • Select: Content Management -> Expired Content
       
    • This will show the expired document.
       
    • Get the content information for the expired document.

      This will show the document was moved to the sysadmin user trash.
      e.g.: Users / sysadmin / Trash / MyDocument.pdf
