Details
We have some exciting news for WebCenter customers. We have released our marketplace option for WebCenter, which is available in both flavors.
- WebCenter BYOL (Bring Your Own License) – Available for WebCenter Portal, WebCenter Content, WebCenter Sites, WebCenter Enterprise Capture
- WebCenter on Universal Credit based pricing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure – Available for all WebCenter products i.e. WebCenter Portal, WebCenter Content, WebCenter Sites, WebCenter Enterprise Capture
We wanted to share our roadmap plans so you (our customers & partners) would be able to better plan your strategies as we progress through more WebCenter announcements. Our goal is to continuously enhance and evolve the WebCenter platform on cloud and on-premise.
WebCenter On-Premise Roadmap Summary
WebCenter Platform Products (mainly Portal, Content, Sites) are currently on the 12.2.1.4.0 release. This release is on Extended Support until Dec 2027. See the Fusion Middleware support timelines for more details.
The next big announcement is that we are planning to get WebCenter Platform 14.1.2.0.0 released. This too is in line with our Fusion Middleware Statement of Direction that was published sometime back.
The key focus of the WebCenter 14.1.2.0.0 On-Premise release (common across all WebCenter Products) is based on customer requests such as:
- Certification of new technologies including latest Oracle JDK, Databases, OS versions, Browsers and more.
- A list of capabilities centered around customer asks and enhancements.
- For customers who have standardized on Kubernetes (K8s), we would support and simplify management by enabling WebCenter to be available on K8s.
WebCenter On-Cloud Roadmap
WebCenter platform products (mainly Portal, Content, and Sites) 12.2.1.4.0 release is available on the OCI Marketplace both as BYOL and UC (Universal Credit) subscription pricing. This will enable WebCenter & Oracle Content Management customers to plan their WebCenter solutions quickly and avail cloud subscription pricing.
The key focus of WebCenter 12.2.1.4.0 release on Oracle Cloud Marketplace is:
- To enable UC pricing for customers, and have WebCenter easily available on a monthly subscription price.
- Provide Cloud advantage like scalability on demand on every aspect, including storage, compute, search, users etc. The other big Cloud advantage is to leverage OCI services that are commonly used as a foundational service, like IDCS for identity and authentication, Open Search for search requirements, ATP for database requirements etc.
- Finally, the plan is to simplify WebCenter management on Cloud on all aspects, by providing tools to monitor, backup, and upgrade.
Soon after the WebCenter 14.1.2.0.0 GA, we are planning to have WebCenter 14.1.2.0.0 also made available on OCI Marketplace. Key roadmap focus for future WebCenter Content releases (on-prem & cloud marketplace) are as follows:
- WebCenter Content will now support Documents Ids greater than a billion (As documents continue to keep growing, we need to enable the repository to support the business growth.)
- Performance improvements for indexing and search.
- Support for REST APIs in WebCenter Content.
- Enhanced Search integrations with ElasticSearch and Oracle OpenSearch.
- Modernize UI / UX making it user friendly and intuitive.
- Intelligent Document Recognition with AI Vision’s Document Understanding.
- Renewed certifications with MS Office and OS for Desktop Admin Tool.
- WebCenter Content on Cloud will be adding more out of box OCI service integrations, namely the AI Document Understanding service for extraction, Process Cloud for workflow and orchestration, Video service, Object Storage service and more.
Key roadmap focus in future WebCenter Portal(on-prem & cloud marketplace) releases are as follows:
- Single Search engine instance leveraged by WebCenter Portal and Content.
- Ease of component development in newer UI frameworks.
- Renew certifications for ElasticSearch and Oracle OpenSearch.
- Content Manager task flow enhancements raised by customers.
- Enhanced search features such as relevancy, boosting and weightage.
Key roadmap focus in future WebCenter Sites (on-prem & cloud marketplace) releases are as follows:
- Open Search OCI Service certification with WebCenter Sites
- Lift and shift Document to help on-prem customer to seamlessly move to OCI Marketplace
- Approach note on using WebCenter Sites in headless fashion.
- Modernize UI to make it Business friendly
- Simplify Site Builder Developer experience
We will enable customers to have flexibility on choosing their WebCenter journey and whichever path they take, whether it be Cloud or On-Premise, we expect them to get continued value and find relevance with the WebCenter platform.
