Managed Server Connects to Self Along with BEA-003120 (DNS Resolution Failure) that Can Lead to Cluster Instability (Doc ID 3008210.1)

Last updated on MARCH 19, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 12.2.1.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A WLS managed server in a WLS cluster connects to self if BEA-003120 (DNS resolution failure) occurs at its starting-up. It can cause WLS cluster instability due to miscommunication among WLS managed servers.

This issue occurs if each managed server has the same listening port, and DNS resolution fails among managed servers. For example, there are three managed servers (ms1, ms11, and ms21) listening on the same port (7101), and ms1 fails DNS resolution regarding ms11 and ms21.

This issue likely occurs on an environment using a WLS dynamic cluster with WebLogic Kubernetes Operator (WKO).
