Java Deployment Rule Set (DRS) Signature Validation Issue (Doc ID 3023919.1)

Symptoms

Customers can experiencing some unexpected behavior with the Java Deployment Rule Set validation, whereby in certain scenarios the rule set signature validation fails with an error message stating a self-signed certificate is used.

For anything after Windows XP/Windows Server 2003 the CryptoAPI sequence of functions customer run will return the content of the certificate store but that's not the full set of Root CAs trusted by Microsoft
