Error ar: 0707-126 xxx.o Is Not Valid With the Current Object File Mode When Relinking (Doc ID 303181.1)

Symptoms

 During the re-linking of a Forms patch on AIX 5L, you get the following errors with the ar command : :

ar r /bandba1/starinb/ias/6iserver/lib/libror60.a roi.o ror.o sros.o
ar: 0707-126 roi.o is not valid with the current object file mode.
Use the -X option to specify the desired object mode.
ar: 0707-126 ror.o is not valid with the current object file mode.
Use the -X option to specify the desired object mode.
ar: 0707-126 sros.o is not valid with the current object file mode.
Use the -X option to specify the desired object mode.
