Goal
The goal of this document is to provide information on how to mitigate a known disk defect that develops over time on HGST (HBCA*/HBSA*) SSDs used by Exalogic X5 and X6 compute nodes.
Diagnosis was made through Internal Bug 35933081 where it was found that HGST (HBCA*/HBSA*) SSDs perform a self-initiated-reset:06/29/04 every 30 minutes after around 56K power on hours. The 800GB (SSD) data drives in Exalogic compute nodes can fail. An upgrade is required to avoid possible outage.
