Custom query search recognize '=' but not the '<' and '>' operands (Doc ID 3050108.1)

Symptoms

When using the Query Builder Advanced options with DATABASE.METADATA search engine and searching with equal to (=) operator, the query works as expected but when "<" (lesser than) or ">" (greater then) operators are used it fails.

 

Example of a modified Query Text:
=========================
dDocType <matches> 'Document' <AND> dSecurityGroup <matches> 'Test' <AND> xIdcProfile <matches> 'Test' and dFileSize < '1000'

=========================

Error noted is:

Content Server Request Failed.
Unable to retrieve search results. The query text is invalid.
