"OPatch failed with error code 255" and ODI Studio Hangs During Startup (Doc ID 3061985.1)

Symptoms

An Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) ORACLE_HOME on Linux platform was working previously, and there were no issues.

Without any obvious reason, users are no longer able to run ODI Studio. When attempting to start ODI Studio, the application seems to hang and the connection screen never opens. There are some messages in the background terminal window indicating that IDE fails to boot, and the application is unable to load jar files i.e.:
