Using "DicVal" Function to get Connection String No Longer Works in 3520 Version of AP Invoices Project (Doc ID 3070228.1)

Goal

Custom code that worked with a previous version of the AP Invoices project no longer works with the AP Invoices 3520 project.  When using the article below to perform a duplicate Invoice Number check in a database a function named "xxPrepareConnection" is called, but it doesn't seem to work with the AP Invoices 3520 project. The article used to get the code is below:
