Mod_oc4j_0184 Error When The Oc4j Process Is Really Running (Doc ID 316684.1)

Symptoms

In an Application Server 9.0.4 or 10.1.2 you may see this error in the $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs/error_log indicating the OC4J instance is down, whereas the OC4J instance is Alive as per opmnctl status output. The users may complain some requests to the J2EE application are not properly processed because of this error.

The error message is similar to this one:

 

[date time] [warn] [client <ip>] [ecid:<ecid>]   MOD_OC4J_0184: Failed to find an oc4j process for destination: <instance name>
