Goal

It is often asked how to change the instance name. This document discusses the possibility of changing the Oracle Application Server 10g Instance name after installation?

For example: The hostname of the machine hosting an Oracle Application Server ( OAS ) Middle or Identity Management tier has been changed. The chgiphost script has been run successfully but the instance name still retains it's reference to the old hostname / domain.
