Information in this document applies to any platform.

Installing Identity Management (OID only install) against a separate database patched to and prepared for Metadata Repository (MR) with the Metadata Repository Creation Assistant (RepCA).

The OID installation guide indicates to fully qualify the Service Name with the domain name in the "Specify Repository" screen, but using the fully qualified servicename, OID installation fails with error:

Install cannot connect to the database located at <HOSTNAME>:<PORT>. Please ensure that the hostname, port and service name are correct and that the database and its listener at this location are up and running.

When specifying the servicename without domain, it returns a different error:

The Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository that you have specified is not a compatible version for configuring Oracle Internet Directory. Please specify another database.
