Goal

Interoperability of J2EE applications deployed in heterogeneous platform is a reality and there may be several cases you may be looking up EJBs deployed across heterogeneous application servers. For example, you may deploy an EJB in BEA WebLogic Server and access that EJB from a J2EE application deployed in Oracle Application Server 10g.
