Entities are not listed for inclusion in an ERD if contained in folders (Doc ID 365008.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 27, 2016

Oracle Designer - Version: to
This problem can occur on any platform.
This issue will affect the usage of the Entity Relationship Diagrammer in all versions of Designer 6i, 9i, and 10g.

After design capturing table definitions and retrofitting them into entity definitions, the entities are not listed as being available for inclusion into a new Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD). This is despite the fact that the owning container, a folder, was listed for selection when creating the new ERD, and that the folder was already the owner of the retrofitted entities.

The problem does not occur if the container type is an application system, as opposed to a folder.

The problem is not realized until the end user attempts to create a new container from within the ER Modeller. Otherwise, folders are not even listed for selection when creating a new ERD.

This will affect all versions of Designer 6i, 9i, and 10g, in which the construct of the container is used.
