Error:"This OC4J is Configured to Make JMX Conn..." When RDBMS & AS are Both Started (Doc ID 365062.1)

Last updated on JUNE 06, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version 10.1.3.0.0 to 10.1.3.5.0 [Release AS10gR3]
Linux x86

Symptoms

Following error is signaled:

"This OC4J is configured to make JMX connections via RMIS and fall back to RMI if the RMIS port is not configured.

The RMIS connection on the OC4J instance home on Application Server iashome.asdes is configured but a connection could not be established.

The JMX proto is specified by the oracle.oc4j.jmx.internal.connection.proto property in opmn.xml"

AS10g(10.1.3) and RDBMS 10g(10.2.0.1) are installed in a same server.
The error is reported in AS10G when RDBMS was running or after the database & listener were started.
The error never showed up when only the AS10G was started. RDBMS also worked OK if AS10G was not active.

In summary both products could not be active at the same time in the same server.

The issue reproduced 100% of times in a Linux RH 4 u2,  but it did not reproduced in Linux RH 3 u4.  And other platforms were not tested.
