You have found that under heavy load your oai instance slows down and you believe that the likely reason for that is xml transformation done by http adapter. To resolve this problem you want to run multiple http adapters but all coming requests are directed to only one URL. This note describes how to load balance those requests between different http adapter instances.

The architecture of this setup will look something like this

                      -> oc4j_A - oai_servlet - adapter_1 ->
http server ->                                                               ->hub 
                      -> oc4j_B - oai_servlet - adapter_2 ->
