Internal Server Error While Attempting to Login Through SSO With a Virtual Host Configured (Doc ID 386362.1)

SSO has been set up according to the steps in the the white paper "Configure an Application Express Application as a Partner Application in Oracle AS Single Sign-On" to configure APEX instance with Single Sign on as a partner application.

However, when running the application, the SSO login page appears, but after giving credentials  it fails with "Internal Server Error".

The access.log of the SSO HTTP server shows error code 500.
