3DES168 Generates TNS-12599 When Using the 10g R2 (10.2.0.1) JDBC Thin Driver (Doc ID 393650.1)

Symptoms

Customer reports they are receiving periodic TNS-12599 'TNS:cryptographic checksum mismatch'
errors in sqlnet.log on the server and JBO-26041 errors on the Application Server side while trying to use the '3DES168' encryption algorithm with JDBC Thin connections.

Turning off ASO encryption, or using the '3DES112' encryption algorithm makes the errors go away.

Also, using no encryption or 3DES112 encryption reveals the real database error. In customer's
case it shows a unique constraint violation on a insert. Customer only saw the JBO error when
using 3DES168 encryption algorithm.

Also, customer wants to know whether there are any issues using the 10.2.0.1 JDBC driver against
a 10.2.0.2 database?


Verified the issue by duplicating issue on internal system and recreated the following error
using the Oracle10g R2 (10.2.0.1) JDBC Thin Driver:
