Symptoms

The registration of a new Metadata Repository Creation Assistant (MRCA/RepCA) installation with 10.1.2.0.2 Oracle Internet Directory (OID) fails with ServiceAliasException in a distributed Oracle Application Server (AS) 10g architecture with a firewall between the Identity Management server and the Metadata Repository (MR) database server.

The RepCA log shows:

The failure occurs when RepCA attempts to add the new RepCA repository database entry into OID.

Attempts to add this orcldbserver entry manually into OID with ldapadd also fail. Error: LDAP Error 53 DSA Unwilling to Perform.

The OID debug log shows error ORA-3113:

[gsldaa_AddEntry]ORA-3113 while adding entry cn=OASED00A,cn=OracleContext.Error = ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
