Custom 404 Error Page is not Shown for Incorrect Portal URLs (Doc ID 399972.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 16, 2016

Applies to:

Portal - Version 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.4.2 [Release 10gR2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Custom 404 Error page is not respected by Portal 10.1.2.0.2, while the same was respected in 9.0.2.6 Portal.

As a result, when entering an incorrect Portal URL, i.e.
    http://<host>:<port>/portal/page?_pageid=6,1,6_13&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTA
     (Note, the L is missing from the end of the URL)
The standard 404 error page is displayed instead if the custom error page.

When accessing an incorrect URL that is not a Portal URL, i.e.
    http://<host>:<port>/p
Then the custom error page is returned.

As a result of this problem the incorrect Portal URLs show the standard error page instead of the customized error page.

Steps To Reproduce:

  1.  Create a custom 404 error page (missing.html) file with the following code:
    <html>
      This is my custom 404 Error
    </html>

  2. Save this file under Midtier_Home/Apache/Apache/htdocs.
  3. Edit the httpd.conf from EM and add the following line:
    ErrorDocument 404 http://<host>:<port>/missing.html
  4. Restart the HTTP Server.
  5. Try the following URLs:
         http://<host>:<port>/p
    Notice that the custom 404 error will be displayed.
         http://<host>:<port>/portal/page?_pageid=6,1,6_11&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTA
    Notice that the standard 404 error will be displayed.
  6. Edit the dads.conf from the EM. Add the following parameter:
    PlsqlErrorStyle ApacheStyle
  7. Update the DCM repository:
    dcmctl updateconfig
  8. Restart the HTTP Server.
  9. Notice that the behavior is the same.
