OC4J Application signals ORA-01858. NLS_DATE_FORMAT Incorrect On Pooled Connections (Doc ID 412165.1)

Symptoms

OC4J application aborts with error :

ORA-01858: A non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
ORA-01843: Not a valid month
When executing a stored procedure called from a java application.

The java application expected the format for the date data to be of the form: MM/DD/RR
