OutOfMemoryError Message when Consulting Historical Data of an Oracle Data Integrator 10g Variable (Doc ID 424098.1)

When consulting the historical data of an Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 10g Variable used in Historize mode, the following message is displayed:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

This is despite the fact that the ODI_MAX_HEAP has been increased to 256 Megabytes.

When increasing this parameter to 512 Megabytes this message is not displayed but it may require several minutes to display the data.

What is the problem here?
