Incorrect Interpretation of Accentuated Characters when Creating an XML File with the ODI XML Driver (Doc ID 424517.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 16, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 3.2.03.01 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to extract data from a database table including fields containing accentuated and other special characters (such as &) in order to populate an XML file with the Oracle Data Integrator XML Driver, it appears that the resulting XML file content is inconsistent.

More precisely, in the database, the field contains the following string:

SOMETHING&ANOTHER D'ACRONYM &ȨȿȺȠȩȫ

When consulting the resulting XML with a simple editor such as Jext, the following string is displayed:

SOMETHING&ANOTHER D'ACRONYM &èÿú àéë

However, when opening the XML file with a Web Browser (such as Firefox or Internet Explorer) the content appears correctly as:

SOMETHING&ANOTHER D'ACRONYM &ȨȿȺȠȩȫ

Is there a problem here?

Note that the XML file header is the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
