How To Compile Forms As Non Oracle User On Unix Platforms (Doc ID 427548.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 05, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Forms - Version 10.1.2.3.0 and later
Oracle Forms for OCI - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Generic UNIX
***   ***

Goal

With Forms Release 10.1.2 and newer, by default the permissions on the executables are '700' which does not allow access to the files including the forms executables to users other than the owner of the oracle installation.  This is the most secure configuration.  You should consider this and test thoroughly before changing this.

Refer to <Bug 4933311> - PERMISSIONS ISSUES AFTER INSTALLING, PERMISSIONS ARE 700 for more details.

There are  workarounds listed in  <Note 561334.1> How To Compile and Run Forms with a User Different from Oracle,

but these involve relaxing the permissions on the installed binaries which is something that may not be desired.
