After Enabling ShortHostnameRedirect in mod_osso.conf, 10.1.3 HTTP Server Fails to Start. (Doc ID 429411.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle HTTP Server - Version 10.1.3.0.0 to 10.1.3.2.0 [Release AS10gR3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

OracleAS 10.1.3 has been 'integrated' with OracleAS Identity Management by following the steps given in the documentation e.g.

Oracle Application Server Administrator's Guide 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0)
Chapter 6 Reconfiguring Application Server Instances

The objective is then to allow access of the Single Sign-On protected j2ee application via the short hostname. To do this it is necessary to uncomment the following lines in:

$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/mod_osso.conf

#PerlModule Apache::ShortHostnameRedirect
#PerlHeaderParserHandler Apache::ShortHostnameRedirect

change to

PerlModule Apache::ShortHostnameRedirect
PerlHeaderParserHandler Apache::ShortHostnameRedirect

After uncommenting these lines the HTTP Server fails to start with the following errors being seen in ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/HTTP_Server~1
