How To Avoid Explicitly Referencing Passwords in Certain ODI Tools (Doc ID 430845.1)

Goal

When using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) tools like OdiReadMail in a package step, for example:

the developer is required to know sensitive information to be able to test the tool - the POP3 user name and its associated password. This may infringe security practices and could lead to confidentiality loopholes.

This issue is under review (May 2007) by the lab and may eventually be circumvented by using encrypted passwords (follow-up ER unpublished Bug:6044281). If this issue is critical the following shows how to avoid this in current versions.
