NULL Is Returned By Embedded Java In BPEL Process When Input Variable Is Assigned To Output (Doc ID 431327.1)

This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

A basic BPEL process with a piece of embedded Java that copies input value to the output returns
NULL.

Embedded java code contains code like this:

String inputvar1 = ((Element)getVariableData("inputVariable", "payload",
"/client:BPELProcess1ProcessRequest/client:input1")).getNodeValue();
