UnsupportedClassVersionError Trying To Start OC4J Container (Doc ID 438331.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to start my OC4J container using opmn it fails to start and the following error (java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError) appears in the  Oracle Application Server OPMN log file for the container.
