Goal

You currently have some rules and profiles that pre-populate metadata for checked in documents. However, when a document is checked in through WebDAV, it will take the metadata that is assigned to the folder that it is checked into. Is this correct behavior?

Solution
This is in fact standard behavior of the folder's component. When checking in a document through the WebDAV interface, it will pre-populate the piece of content with all the preset metadata from the folder since there is no option to select which metadata to place with that piece of content. When you check in a piece of content into the folder through the standard Stellent check in page, the rules will then populate the metadata fields as they are designed. The rules only apply to checkins done through the standard Stellent check in page.
