MSSQL transaction log fills up the hard drive

Symptoms
The SQL database log, for our Content Server, has filled up the hard drive for our SQL server. The log file on the SQL server that has grown to 38 gig. I am told that the SQL utility to clean it up won't run because the drive is so full. Need assistance in deleting the log file and configuring it so the Stellent server combination SQL server won't hold on the logs like it is. We need assistance to make sure this is done properly and we don't corrupt our Stellent data.
