Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.
Product: Content Server
Version: 7.1.1

Symptoms

Cannot open .oft files up in webviewable but can the native file, and can open it up on the desktop too. 404 error on the web viewable file.

.oft files are Microsoft Outlook template files that can be created within Outlook by creating a new message and then file save as -- .oft. Then check it in to the content server.

The problem does not exist on XP, tested on my instance on XP. Not an issue on XP, however, you need to add the mime extension in Windows 2003 server or IIS.

To add the mime type in IIS 6.

1. Go to internet information services.

2. Select the host name or my computer.

3. Right click and select properties.

4. Select MIME Types ....

5. Select New... and add the extension .oft and give it a MIME type: of Application/Outlook or text/plain if you do not have Outlook on the server.

6. Restart the Webserver.
