Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Please note that the information here is essentially for legacy Sunopsis and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 10g. ODI 11g and 12c have restructured much of the approach described here.

See for example: <Document 423712.1> - How To Set Up Agents As Windows Services On ODI Versions Up To, And Excluding ODI 11g

The ODI Agent may be thought of as the "conductor" of the various instrumental sections in the Enterprise data integration orchestra. It takes the information stored in Knowledge Modules and generates the appropriate SQL for the technology that will Extract, Load, or Transform data. It also updates the logs which can be viewed via the Operator module.

Proper installation and setup and is important so that load balancing can be done and scenarios run smoothly.
